The Roliminal Signal
This project belongs to a quieter, more experimental space we call roliminal. It’s a side project where we allow ourselves to be "weird"—a digital laboratory for nostalgia, experimentalism, and the surreal fragments of our shared past.
On the roliminal channel, we explore audio as a medium for time travel. We create "palliatives for insomniacs"—directed audio scenarios that recreate specific, almost forgotten Romanian moments. Whether it’s the muffled sound of a 2004 presidential debate heard from a child’s bed, or the flickering glow of a 2008 OTV broadcast in the next room at grandma’s house, we use sound design to anchor the listener in a very specific place and time.
The Weird Carol: A Cultural Remix
The "Digital CAROL" set—the Suno trap album—is a continuation of this work. It’s an experiment in resynthesizing Romanian Christmas Colinde. We aren't just making funny remixes; we are testing the boundaries between the real and the synthetic, the ancient and the modern.
There is a specific kind of wonder in hearing a machine navigate the phonetic nuances of our winter songs over a heavy trap beat. Within the context of roliminal, it’s an acoustic artifact—a way of directing the imagination through a remix of cultural DNA.
It’s meant to be light, it’s meant to be surprising, and it’s meant to remind us that technology can be a toy as much as a tool.
